Default JDM B16A with GSR Head...

I am currently building (for a 95 Civic hatch) a JDM B16A with p30 pistons and using a 97 GSR head and 97 GSR Cams. I plan to use an aftermarket intake (would like the S2 Pro but price may be out of reach) or maybe the blox intake. and would like to use DC headers. I also have a GSR hydro transmission. My questions are:
Has anyone else done a similar setup?
What kind of results did you achieve?
What kind of results can I expect?
and What is the general consensus of the group about such a setup?
just looking for some feedback.
My fire resistant suit is on... so flame away...
Thanks in advance for your help.

Its not a bad setup if you have the parts already and arent going out of your way to build it. I blox manifold would be good when considering price but they are a little rough on the inside. It will be a fun motor, the smaller combustion chamber(s) of the gsr head will help yield a higher compression ratio, but not by much. I think Ive calculated a .2 cr increase back in the day. Dont expect this to be an ITR or GSR killer. It will hold its own. Throw in some better cams, Skunk2 Pro Intake and a 4-1 header on top of the standard I/H/E upgrades you'll be good to go. There are too many factors for me to give you some whp #'s but anything around 180whp with a b16 is a very nice setup.

Thanks for your responses guys, I really appreciate it...

Lpoke... What kind of header did you use with this setup?
also is that your blue ride in your avatar? I love that color blue.

American.Graffiti... You really dont think it would take a GSR? I was thinking that given the higher compression ratio of the b16A with P30 pistons (factory 10.4:1 + your .2CR calculation= 10.6:1CR) also given the higher rev potential of the B16A as opposed to the b18. let alone the fact that the EG civic weighs almost half that of the GSR. I was kinda hopin' it would smoke a GSR.
Oh BTW... what headers do you think. Keep in mind, Im not a rich man... I'm a broke bitch more like... but I see them on ebay all time ranging from like $50 up to $300 or more... I mean how can there be that much difference in them?
I really don't mean to sound like a head, Its just that I have so many questions that not many people in this area know about. I live in a land of mustangs and camaros and ****. Nobody seems to know much about Honda's... except how to put on a fart can and stickers...LOL There are a few ricers in this area but not many.
again thanks in advance for your time.

Im giving a rough estimate on the .2cr increase so dont hold me to it. There are a few more things you could do if you want to increase compression without cracking open the bottom end. One very good option is milling the head. Some are against it while others are for it and I personally take the side that is budget conscious. There are some headers you can find on H-T that are new and cheap. I think someone on here is selling a hytech copy for $350 which is a major steal. You throw that in there with a 2.5 inch exhaust system and a decent cold air intake you would be good. I know some people may read my post and disagree with almost everything I say but Im talking from a budget conscious perspective. Since you are aiming to beat gsr's 170whp will get you there. But remember people might not have what you think they do.

Man that Titanium Nitrate coated one.... SO SWEEEEEET! But unfortunately its a little more than my budget will allow. maybe when I get to the point of buying up that stuff I can squeeze it. at this point I gotta transmission in the shop getting looked at. Of course when I bought it, it was "perfect" but I took it right to my guy who tore into it and it needs a couple of things. but he is on it.
BTW my engine is currently taken apart... so I can do whatever to it. When the transmission is finished Ill send the block to the machine shop to have it honed (or bored if need be) and bathed etc... I want to get everything balanced when I take it too. What do you think about leaving the stock valve springs on that GSR head? I will be using stock cams in it... I mean, I would like to put a new bad *** set in there but again $$$... What kinda RPM do you think I could realistically be looking at twisting with this setup?

my old combo was a b16 block w/ GSR head. I had CTR cams & pistons and JDM ITR header. made like 190ish hp IIRC.

good luck...

p30 pistons should do fine...
