first things first; im new to FI. before i granaded my gsr, i added a few bolt ons but nothing major. cams, feul system, vafc, intake, exhaust, etc. i know a turbo set up making 250whp would be a lot cheaper than making 250 all motor. starting from scratch, what are some things i would need to hit my 250 mark? reliability is a MUST! thanks in advance for any help.

Any basic turbo kit should get you there. Stock GSR motor should live long and well with a proper tune at that power level. You will want to convert to OBDI if your not there already. Most on here will tell you to go big on the turbo for more power since boost it addicting. I kinda agree with that but I have a gsr I am looking to make 275-300 whp for a daily driver. I have my 240sx for when I am wanting more.

 

If you want a reliable 250whp turbo setup, i would suggest an SLS Shorty and a 50 trim. The rest of the setup doesn't change much from any other setup. You need a rather small intercooler....i would suggest the JRC 6". Then for fuel injectors i would get RC550cc's. Make sure to get a 3" exhaust now....

When building this setup be sure that you leave room to grow because chances are, you will want more power in the near future. I thought i'd be happy w/ my first setup 254/186 but i was sadly mistaken. I'm now at 315/216 which is a lot better, but far short of what i feel i "need"

tial wastegate and blow off valve
750cc injectors
15psi and make 350-400whp

 

I sat in your same seat 3 years ago,and i would have to say, for your first time, go pre-fab. you will learn the parts of the turbo kit better. Greddy will bring you to 250whp safely and its a realistic turbo for the streets. I would choose hondata s200b. and with force induction my friend, go the right route the first time and never turn your back again. No need of running anything bigger than a 50 trim for 300whp or less. Now people may argue with this but you will see that turbo is completely different from n/a

I seriously wouldn't go above a T3 for 250whp. A 60trim T3 and 11psi should be good for 275whp, as I know a friend who's past car was a 1st gen b16 with a 60trim T3 (small stg1 turbine) and made 250whp on 9psi. You'll have power from 3k to redline, especially if you run a 3" dp/exhaust.

 

A basic greddy kit would meet your goal.

 

screw greddy go on honda-tech market place and choose one from there get some 440cc injectors there good up to 330whp, walbro 255 f.pump a good tune and u ready to go

 

dont get a greddy kit, you will just find yourself constantly replacing parts with bigger ones.

the only think you need to hit 250whp safely is a good engine management and a good tuner.

any basic piston and rod gsr with headstuds will make 250whp. any remotely healthy bone stock gsr motor will make 250whp. its all about building and preparing for the future.


get a premade kit. can be something complete like peakboost or f-r. or you can get a manifold/downpipe/dumptube setup. buy a turbo (any reasonabe t3t4 will work fine). then get an intercooler and piping kit, oil line kit and some fuel injectors/fuel pump/tuning.

few different routes you can take to be effective, its all based on future goals and cash availible
