Default Help? Removing paint from rear tail lights on '91 CRX Si

So the rex I just bought about a week ago is now up and running. The big thing I'm worried about is that there are painted stenciled lettering on the rear tail lights. I'm assuming rattle can paint (spray paint). Just wondering if there's a way to get the paint off the lenses without ruining the lights themselves. I just want them to look stock again. I've heard paint thinner, alcohol, brake fluid, etc. Anyone have any proven methods? I can get pics if needed, but it just has paint on the tail lights. I have a write up on making your tail lights shine like new again, but that has nothing to do with removing paint on the tail lights. I will do that after the paint is removed. All three pieces have paint on them. The center piece is completely painted black. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Here's a link to the write up for making the tail lights shine. Not my write up!

Turpentine! ( I think that might be the same thing as acidtone tho) Or aircraft paint remover.

Aircraft stripper will probably eat through the lights. High grit sand paper, and then some polishing compound should do it... maybe just polishing compound if you have a high speed buffer and know how to use it.

This procedure (towards bottom of page 1) will remove all paint as well.

Yea, wetsanding is what I was leaning more towards. I'm pretty sure that Aircraft Remover will eat through the plastic, although that stuff rocks on metal/aluminum

I never used Acidtone/Turpentine. Hard to use? I assume it's like Aircraft remover, but alot safer?

Dont use aircraft remover it will melt the plastic, I have had real good success with zylol. they sell it at most auto supply stores and hardware stores and some paint stores. It is a solvent like acetone but a little less aggressive on plastic and removes paint great. I believe it actual use is to thin epoxies or resins.

Yea, I have seen brake fluid bubble up paint and wipe it clean away (accident from drops of fluid on my car from brake fluid flush). But how long should I let it sit before wiping it off? Like 10 minutes? I put some on and tried to just wipe away, but that didn't work...lol.

I would be real careful with what chemical will and will not melt the plastic. I am not sure if acetone would or not, I know brake cleaner will melt interior piece plastic (ac vents). I would try the high grit sand paper/lense polish route.
