I bought a new car last night (big pics)
Ok, so it's new to me, it most certainly isn't a NEW car.
It's an 88 Civic Hatchback STD. 152k on the odometer. The engine runs really well. Though it does need a valve adjustment. The drivers rear wheel bearing is bad. The CV joints need to be replaced/rebuilt. The windshield was smashed up by some punk kids that threw a rock at it (and the windshield had JUST been replaced).
The interior sucks....and theres some rust on the body. But other than that, it's good. :D
It's got a new battery. The clutch seems good, brakes need new pads, and probably front rotors, but otherwise are strong. The radiator looks like it's been recently replaced. Good compression. The muffler is missing.. and shifter bushing needs to be replaced. Struts are good.
But it's not a bad vehicle, all things considered. Especially for what I paid for it.
Some specifications:
1.5L TBI 16 valve 70hp, 4spd manual, door mounted seat belts, 50/50 split rear seats, remote fuel and hatch release, rear defogger, 165/70R13 tires
Curb Weight (lbs): 2127
It's my new project. I'm building a rally car. At first, it will just be the cage, seats, harness, brake pads, and new H&R springs, skidplate, and other shields. Plus I have to buy a spot welder for the chassis.
Last night, I took it up to the lake I live by, and right where the paved road stops, and the gravel road begins, there was a huge dropoff that spans the width of the road. I couldn't see it until I was right on top of it, so I didn't have time to brake very much. We went flying over it. The car took it pretty well, I was impressed.
How much did I pay for it?
$185.00
:D
Anyways, without further adieu, I present to you, Project Ugly

TALK ABOUT YOUR PEICES OF ****!
But its going to be a rally car so who cares. I give ya props for finding such a cheap car. Thats whats great about a P.O.S car. if you already plan on striping it and new engine, etc etc who needs to pay 3k for a good condition one.

I WISH my car looked that good when I bought it. My clutch was smoked, engine smoked, seats torn to peices (they looked like a herd of wolves manged on them), the body on my car was all rusted with holes in it..........it is amazing of what a little sheet metal, fiber glass and patience could do........mine also cost $400
That was a good find.......and good luck on the rally car
Maybe I'll post some before after pics when I'm done.

you got an std? me too. all it takes usually is a shot... oh the honda car . i got one of those too. it needs a shot also . you better put some brakes and suspension in it first. you'll tear it up in no time if the car is absorbing all that stress. also you're going to need more horsies to pull you out of dirt and mud. rally is so much more stressfull to a car than roads. i got a blue one. 142k. no a.c., pant pant pant. i paid 1300 don't know if that's good or bad? good base to build on. good luck.
