2000 Honda Accord Transmission Problem-Los Angeles
Hi,
I live in the los angeles area. I have no mods on my 2000 accord lx sedan. I have 140k miles on it. My transmission is begining to slip from 1st to 2nd gear. Does anybody know a mechanic in LA that might do this repair for a reasonable price. I'm a student on a budget. Thanks.

My last transmission oil change from honda dealership was at 90k. One of my friends suggested that I buy honda transmission oil and have a local mechanic change for me first before I try repairing, but i'm not sure if it will do anything at all for the jerking sensation i'm feeling when i drive it.
I can have yours rebuilt for 1500.00, my shop is in the city of Orange so I don't know if it works out for you... I'll even provide a rental car. Let me know if interested.
BTW... if you want to try to service it first using Honda ATF we can do it for $125 out the door. I'd say if it's a minor slip it may help cure but I say it usually works on 1 out of 7 cars.
Thanks for the reply. I will change my transmission oil with honda ATF first and get back to you on it. Thanks.
don't waste your time with the fluid. it is only a temp fix. The internal filter is clogged and that is what causing your trans to slip. Just go straight to rebuild and save your $125
Thanks for your help. I currently don't have $1200 -$1500 to spend for a rebuild tranny right now. I went to change the tranny oil-bought 5 quarts @ honda dealership for $35 and went to my local mechanic and spent $40 for tranny oil change. He drove it around and thinks i have about 6-8 months before he suggested the actual rebuild. He also suggested that I not push my car too hard and in the mean time start looking around to see if I can find a used tranny for a bargain.
