Default 2001 GSR SWAPPED INTO A 94 CIVIC?

I have an issuewith this, i have bought my friends totaled 2001 gsr and i want to put that motor into my 94 civic.
i have heard people telling me its hard cuz the gsr is obd2b and mine is obd1, with this in mind i want my swap to be ref legal. i was hoping for some help out there to make this possible swap happen. any info will be gladly help thanks. bassically what im also asking is what do i need from my donor car to make it ref legal. any splicing or readjusting anything or something?

It is possible as long as you keep the OBDII equipment with your swap.

This is possible. They just need to change the distributor of the gsr from an obdII to obdI. Then this will be able to connect your motor to your engine harness. Plus you don't need to add any other sensors from OBDII Cuz its easier for you to keep your obd1 harness. Either that or you can get a OBDII harness converter.

A reputable shop should be able to help you with this.

I did this and was able to make it ref legal.

I have a 97 GSR(OBD2) to 93 Civic (OBD1) but they reffed it as a 95 GSR

hope this helps.

heres a couple of examples of what the ref and bar tech told me:

1)you can do it but you have to put the whole dash board wirng to make it obd2b

2)another one said there is a lot of wire work to do.

3) you have to change over the gas tank.

4) you need to add 2 o2 wires.

5) its almost impossible to make this car obd2 compliant.

those are examples of what they said.

what do guys think about that?

thanks for your response.

a couple of items the ref will need.

GSR cat with o2 sensor on the cat.
all EGR equipment.

i'd suggest keeping it OBD1.

you don't need to change the engine harness or distributor 0bd2 Integra engine harnesses plug into 92-95 Civics at the firewall with no modification and just work and the car will still be obd1 (you just need 0bd1 ecu). It is silly to convert an engine to obd1 accesorries when going into a 92-95 civic

best bet is to call them. now if you happen to make it to the bar test. they will run the engine vin to find out what year the engine is. seeing as its obd2 and you live in california. your main concern is that they can smog it through scan port. which means they have to be able to use their machine to pull any cels that might be on there. jumper harnesses are not allowed. you will be required to have a CA legal obd2 cat. converter.

A GSR engine does not have an EGR valve.. .so they aren't going to "need" anything EGR related. Also, you got DAMN lucky if they reffed your engine as a 95.
