99 CRV Quits Inconsistently, No Codes
I have a 99 CR-V EX. In last 3 weeks the car just quits very inconsistantly. Under idle or under power it just dies with no warning and no codes. Takes from 3 to 12 times to get it restarted. Today it quit 6 times within a mile, took 10 to 12 times to restart then finally stayed on and I was able to get home. Honda technician said probably the main relay for the fuel system. Relay gets hot and shuts down. It has been very hot, mid 90 degrees and above each time its happened. Anyone out there experience this problem before?. The tech guy made it sound as if this was a common problem for this year CRV. Thanks in advance for any help.
it happens in every honda pre 2002 at some point. when this happens wail the dashboard with a solid fist to the left of the steering wheel while trying to crank it. It should start
although yours is a 99, sounds like the ignition switch recall. take your car back to honda and ask them if the ignition switch has ever been replaced. my 97 crv would die randomly until i took it to the dealer to have it replaced
hard start is usually main relay but not to common on crv as it is at the right side of dash behind glove box. less heat generated there...possible ig switch pig tail..jut call a Honda dealer and give them your vin and they can find out
