Never come across this before
So here's the deal. My good buddy has a 93 4dr civic (possibly dx) that has an intermitten start problem. It will start after long periods on inactivity and then once you cut it off it won't start again, it will simply crank but not turn over. So we replaced the starter and same issues. Well we discovered that after taking out a spark plug it started. So we replaced the spark plugs and wires but same thing happened. Any body know any reason at all that would cause this to happen?
Did you try replacing the cap/rotor on the distributor?
Check that out, if not could possibly be internal in the distributor, or is could be something with the fuel pump, if it can't keep pressure... The times it does start, will it stay started?

Err... you mean Ignition Coil?

we're going to replace the dizzy cap and rotor button tomorrow. Its not the fuel pump b/c once its started its fine. It's just getting it to constantly start is the problem. Also may try replacing that coil

That's what I was thinking, but it doesn't make sense that it would run absolutely 100% fine while driving, but it wouldn't start.
Igniting is igniting, it's a charge, it wouldn't make a difference - it would give igniting problems while driving too
.
Though I'd change the igniter anyways
.
Either a dizzy part or something to that effect.
Next time it won't start - pull a spark plug and wire and see if it's sparking while he's turning it over. If it is - see if it's putting out fuel while turning over but not starting.
It's not doing one or the other.

Well we diganosed it again today and when it won't start there is no spark and it sparks fine when it starts so we're going to go change his rotor button and dizzy cap and see if that fixes it.
