Removed a bit of timing on my last tune H22 , presently running 15* at 14psi. However, I am getting slight hesitation @ xover( 4700), can lack of timing cause this? Also how does 15* @14 psi total on 87mm 9:1 comp sound? Very conservative eh?

 

15* is kinda low i think. my 84mm vtec motor is running around 17 or 18 i think at those boost levels.


anyway, you might also be experiencing too much fuel there. ive had some setups that for some reason wound up real rich right around vtec, and it definately robs power

 

its most likely your tune, when i was getting my car street tuned this would happen at a few spots and he would find where they were at and fix them. im almost positive thats what your problem is. what are you using to tune?

 

i know at 600 hp my car started breaking up bad just after vtec, we played around and it was a case of not enough timing.

ive had that happen too. sometimes these motors really like timing

 

We bumped up the timing 2*to 17* @ 14 psi yesterday. Big difference, the hesitation is almost gone, just a slight half-second draw back now. I figure another 1-2* will fix it.

its possible vtec crossover needs to be set in a different spot as well. Put it on the dyno and see.

 

You could defintly add another degree or two on top of that
