Default Schroth in 93 Civic HB

Hi,

I'm thinking of putting in the Rallye3 in my civic for autocrossing but I'm concerned about my seat configuration. I currently have the stock seats that have the head rest support on one side of the seat. According to the Schroth site, it looks like this is not recommeneded

Do I have to get another set of seats in order to set up the harness correctly?

Thanks

Yep, Integra seat or Del Sol seat should work. I'd take the Del Sols over the Integra any day, fwiw.

Ok, I'll look for some new seats. I found somebody selling the seats from his Evo. I'm gonna see if I can somehow graft my civic rails onto his seat.

I wouldn't bet on that. That is, unless you can weld.

It's been a while since I've welded and then it was only MIG. My boss has a MIG welder that he said I could borrow whenever I need it. Anyway, I may just end up going with these

Those are made for the OEM Recaros available on the JDM models from Honda, I don't know that they'd work with the ones from Mitsubishi. Recaro makes seats for many manufacturers. Just as an example, VW has had Recaro seats available for like 25 years, and NONE of them would ever work in a Honda without serious modification.

I've seen plenty of people use a Schroth 3-point on the OEM 92-95 Civic seats. It's just for autox, so you'll be fine.

Bummer. I thought I saw another thread saying that was all you need to bolt them in. I'll take a look at the seats and see if it looks possible to modify. Time to borrow the boss's welder!

Glad to know that people have been running these harness on stock seats

All you would need is a strap (like a velcro one) to wrap around the headrest neck and around the harnesses to keep them going over the shoulder rest. That's what I do.

That's interesting, I've never heard of that being done. For autoxing, that doesn't sound like a bad idea though.

I've always wondered if the Ralley 3 would be okay with EG seats and connecting to the C pillar position. Doing it that way really wouldn't allow the right side shoulder belt to fall off the shoulder and either would the left b/c that post is there.. . I'd be concerned about the rubbing that might take place though.

The velcro strap is still a good safety idea.

I'm definitely interested in what you come up with here.. .

Really the one thing annoying about the EG seats is once you take your harness off the right side shoulder harness would fall off. I had a 00 Civic Si and the 91 Civic Si and would feed the harness through the headrest posts, which kept them in place.

But once the harness is over your shoulder and clicked they shouldn't go anywhere

Thanks for the helpful suggestions. I'm fairly new to autocrossing about a dozen events but I'm getting tired of bracing myself with my left knee and shoulder.

00 GSR, stock "super slippery" leather seats. I tie my belt in a knot at the buckle before each run. Helps a bit in comparison to just (ab)using my knees to stay in place.
