quick question........
As long as it threads on, and you can punch the tab back in so it don't spin off, you will be fine.

Yeah technically
, when putting in a new axle we always use new axle nuts, because they always come with new ones.

I think the OP is talking about the lip that your suppost to hit down into the little notch on the axle end
if there is no more lip to pinch in there then get a new axle nut!

Well only VWs have axle "Bolts" and to me it looks like you circled the lip to the actual Hub??? that has nothing to do with your axle "Nut".
and to be honest your question is WAY to vague to properly answer, change what "whole thing", the Axle? the Hub? the Axle Nut? man be more specific, we can't read your mind (we can barely read your post)

Correct, your hub is not affected by that lip. The lip is mainly for your rotor wheel to sit hubcentrically on so it stays in place and centered. At most if the lip gets to bent you'll have to grind off the excess when replacing rotors cause the rotors won't clear the lip if it's to bent. No big deal either way
