Saw this on HMT. Not only did he purposely do this, but he's proud of it.

Instead of going to a muffler shop and buying a reducer, he put a small pipe into the bigger one and filled the gap with chunks of metal, bolts, 50+ feet of filler rod.

BBC 2nd gens suck btw. Mustangs with huge cowl hoods are way cooler.

No more worrying about loose bolts, I'm going to weld all my bolts on, even if they are not holding anything on.

If you want to compare HMT to H-T, H-T is going to loose.

Sure half the people on there build turbo cars with shitty welds, shitty fabrication, and little planning. The other half build turbo cars with excellent fabrication and beautiful results. You have to start somewhere, building a couple ghetto fab setups is a good way to learn the skills needed to build a nice car.

Primary point being, most of them have turbo's on their cars (which are therefore somewhat quick), whereas many people on this forum think their I/H/E D15 is fast.

Sure they do build with crappy welds, but at least they build

half the people who post in either have cars that still pass CARB tests. Case closed.

btw, 4-14-2003 vs. 2-28-2002

Yeah, HMT guys do. H-T guys talk about doing for the most part. I like the spirit in which the guy tried to solve his problem. The effort is what is important.

with the $ he wasted on a entire 2lb wire spool/gas he could have bought a reducer or bought sheet metal to roll his own reducer.

that is garbage, for lack of effort.

If it isn't Full-Race then it isn't worth a **** huh?

You guys kill me.

Yeah, that thing looks like a thousand smashed ********, but who cares? The damn thing works.

HMT is a totally different environment. If you don't like it, then stay the hell out.

HMT is all about the means to an end in the most cost effective (cheapest) way possible. It is all about getting out there and doing something, and not so much about bench racing. There are some quality builds on both sites, but the difference is that HMT folks will run the morons that seem to infest this site out of there.

Pretty sure that no one said it was a work of art in a serious manner. Get the stick out of your ***.
