Default want to fix my sloppy window trim

i posted here first before i do anything just to make sure im not making a mistake
so someone please tell me if i purchased the wrong thing to use for what im trying to do, i plan on taking all the old crusty paint thats on there, going over it with scotch bright and then just spraying and letting it dry

i believe that on the eg's the belt moulding (part pictured above) is metal with some type of black plastic coating on it. they are not plastic like on most cars. dont hold me to this cause i havent had my eg in years so i cant remember. is teh coating thats on the metal coming off or is it just dull? if its coming off i would recommend sanding the rest of it off then spray that. but if its just dull spray that on their

well then in order for it to look half decent without buying new ones i would sand the rest off then spray it with the stuff u got. make sure u finish it out with a fine grit if not the scratches will show. if u dont use a fine grit just prime it before so that the scratches do not show

im going to sand the rest off then just use what i got what grit dou sudgest i use before i paint , and should i sand it after?

Hey sorry to jack your thread , but im having sort of the same problem. My window trim and the rubber etc all around my window is getting messed up. Each time my window goes up it pulls up the window trim that you showed in the pic.

Where could i buy the replacement pieces that i would need ? Also is it hard to install them? My window itself is giving me problems also...it never ends...

I used the duplicolor trim paint on mine and it looks perfect now.
my coating was chipping off before so I had to do some extra steps to repair it.

i did this a few years ago on my sedan, went from "chrome" to flat black. it's held up great, even after hail storms the dents haven't chipped

well im not going to use bondo or anything mine are way to gone for that what grit should i use to sand the metal tho so the paint sticks, and how many coats should i do?
