Default Upgrading brake's. Si --> VTEC (or better)

I searched, and theres some minor information as far as upgrading the brakes goes. And most of the information including pics and such is from 2002 and all of the images are expired. I've currently got a 1996 Si with stock brakes, calipers, rotors, ect and I would like to upgrade to the larger VTEC rotors (Brembo) but I need to know what else I will need.

Im automatically assuming with the rotors, im going to need the calipers. Im going to work on finding prelude VTEC oem ones (or perhaps brembo also), but the Legend and NSX sparks interest. What I wanted to also know more information on is if I get legend or NSX calipers, will I need respective rotors, or will prelude vtec ones work?

I also dont want to have to change my bolt pattern is any other parts require it (like NSX and legend rotors)

Who can shine a little more light in my direction?

I coulda sworn you only needed vtec rotors and the mounting brackets for the calipers?

The link nonvteclude posted and:

For the Legend Caliper Swap.

You need to do a lot more research before you buy anything.

First, VTEC and Si Calipers are the Same. Same size Piston at least. Only thing different is the Bracket, that will be all you need to upgrade to VTEC Size, 11.1", Rotors.

You wouldn't be using NSX or Legend Rotors, that wouldn't work.
You could use the Calipers and Brackets from the NSX or Legend, yes.
The Legend Pistons are 2mm larger than the NSX Pistons, but the NSX Calipers are much lighter than the Legends.

I'm not sure how thick the NSX Rotors are, but I know the Legend Rotors are 5mm thicker than the Prelude Rotors, so you'll have to fix that using Legend Calipers with Stock VTEC Prelude Rotors.

The piston might be the same size, but if you put the 2 calipers next to each other you can visually see the difference. If I can find my old ones I'll take a pic tomorrow

Yes, as I said, the pistons are the same size, the rest of the Caliper doesn't really matter..

that and there is nothing special about the prelude VTEC piston anyways. its the same pistons used on

97-01 crvs (all models)
92-01 preludes (all models)
90-93 accords (all models)
94-97 accords (lx,ex,v6 models)
95-98 odysseys (all models)
06-07 accord 4dr

nothing special lol.

Yea... Don't think anyone said it was..

Just the Brackets are different to allow slightly larger rotors.

so you are saying that the caliper is the same???if thats the case, I should just get the new rotors??? I do not think the caliper is same though because the Si and VTEC have different front pads. that tells me that the caliper is NOT the same.

Read the entire thread....

The Calipers are not the same, the Piston is different. The Caliper doesn't matter. The Rotors are different. Si is 10.2" and the VTEC is 11.1", so yes, there will be different pads.
