Default vtec or no vtec

well im trying to get my stuff together for my turbo set up. im working on the cash but my 97 cd5 had 210000 and addin more miles everyday..(f22b1) so im looking for a f22b2 or f22b1 for less mile on it. when i was lookin at the turbo tread i saw a lot of ppl with f22b2 and some f22b1. Is there any diff between them other then v tec ? its faster or easier to built or anything ?? thankz
vtec or non vtec thats the question...

just get another long block f22b1 vtec and drop it in. you can find a long block for $300-$500. that's what i would do

the benifits of the H23 tranny is the gears are not as short as the H22, and not as long as the F....and the H23 tranny does not come with LSD..Ill give you a little advice..the F22 vtec is a great motor in fact that is what I am getting ready to turbo.....the benifits of the non vtec motor is that the head flows better....and you can also use a DSM turbo manifold because of the different patteren in the head

the vtec head goes 0-00-0
the non vtec head goes 0-0-0-0

but anyway continue reading do a SEARCH on turboed F series and all you questions will be answered

H23 trannies are more rare than you might think. You may have to travel a bit to source one.

i believe your head information is incorrect. both the f22b1 and f22b1 heads are 0-00-0 while the f22a and f22b dohc heads are 0-0-0-0. the dsm manifold will not work on either the f22b1 or the f22b2, while it will work with the f22a and f22b dohc.
