Default Mugen Twin Loop opinions please (pretty pleeese!!)

Ok I just found out from my supplier that Apexi is no longer making the RS exhaust I have on order. To make up for it I've been offered the Mugen twin loop for a reasonable price of $1700 (~US$970).
This is an "Australian" supplier so please dont tell me I'm being ripped off (I already know I am!), or that I can get it cheaper at <insert name> Racing in Kentucky or something (because shipping will kill me).
Unfortunately I do not have the luxury of time to look through 100+ exhaust posts.
I've already spent a **** load on a crap sounding exhaust and $1700 is a lot to pay - I do NOT want to get it wrong this time.
I'd like to ask several very specific questions about the exhaust ... please answer them if you can.

I'm primarily after a quiet exhaust that does not drone or intrude into the cabin too much ... I've been burnt before!! I know that it does not flow as well as an N1 or spoon or whatever but I have minimal mods and my cars primarily used for daily driving.

Most importantly what does it sound like?
Does it have a puttery or airy sound?
Does it drone inside the cabin?
Will it give me headache after 10 mins of driving?
Is it quiet enough to hear the intake?
Does it fit well (or am I likely to need it modified to fit)?

Thanks to anyone that can help ... and thanks to anyway to anyone that cant.

Mike

You will be happy with the Mugen Twin Loop - It's probably the best (noise, quality, "power") of all the mass-produced exhausts.

To answer:
Mellow, throaty... but not raspy or "tinny". It made the hairs on my neck stand endwise when I heard it at 6000-8400 on the dyno.
More "airy" - it doesn't "putt".
A bit... but in a Type R, the lack of sound deadening is more the culprit. There is an odd resonance at 1300 rpm or so...
Not at all.
If you have an AEM or similar, yes.
Like a glove.

The apexi world sport is actually a newer version of the Apexi RS.

SMSP has his exhaust on special right now. Full catback with NO bottlenecks (Mugen still has some), and it's only ~$650.

Sound is just as quiet as the mugen I think. Sounds great, stockish look.

Check this out:

and an audio clip (in a closed room with the dyno whining in the background)

Very nice catback

Get it, you won't regret it. Very nice sounding and looks awesome on an ITR.

i got the chance to drive/hear a itr w/ Twin Loop Cat-back w/ test pipe and jdm itr 4-1 header. When my friend took it for a spin..my impression was that it sounded almost like a motorcycle at WOT. I love it..

I'd recommend the Mugen Twinloop over anything else. I have the Apex'i N1 right now, and it is way too loud... I'll be switching to Mugen soon I think.

I think I'd go crazy with the spoon exhaust in my daily driver. Loud is an understatement.

I/H/E with mugen twin loop is not that quiet IMHO (louder than stock), but still alot quieter than Stock ITR with Spoon N1 axle back.

you sure you wont' want a Spoon exhaust instead?

Not many people think about this factor but the Mugen Twin-Loop is one heavy system.

I use to have it myself and eventually got rid of it ...because of that reason.

Great ... most posts seem very positive!
Does anyone know how much the system weighs in comparison to stock?
Also, someone suggested I may have problems mating with the cat (hehehe ... minds out of the gutter guys!!! ) ... is this likely?

Length of the cat may be different depending on whether you get a system for the VtiR or the ITR

ITR bpipe is shorter than VtiR so you'll have to lengthen either bpipe or cat

If you get the VtiR version then you're fine

It is a very nice system. If I could afford it.. I would have it.

Weight = about the same as stock. The is a little more than stock... b/c of the extra piping.

Mike, you sound like you want a stock exhaust! W/o pulling out the performance guide, I'm thinking the exhaust isn't gonna do much for you, esp w/just minimal mods. Plus if it's a DD, then most of the time it won't do anything for you. But stock will sound just fine....and it'll let you hear that engine sing!

Just a thought.......

Good luck

Yes ... had I known all the troubles I would've had from the start I would've stayed stock!! I just wanted a bit more performance (not much necessarily), a nice sound and nice look. I've spent AUS$1000 so far and have got none of these

Have you tried to find a ITR owner (who has replaced his exhaust with after market) and tried to buy the stock ITR system?

I know the connection to the cat will have to be modified... but it is worth a try..

-better flow
-quiet
-OEM fittment

Try asking BlueR and Hooptie157 they (i think) have had or have the exhaust in question.
