Default Master Cylinder mystery leak

hey all, i know this isn't on a civic but you guys are usually quite helpful

For a few weeks now my master cylinder on my ae86 has been doing strange things like having the pedal go to the floor for no reason, so i decided to change it.

I bought a remanufactured one and swapped over the cap and cap hose that connects it to the master. I bench bled the new one, put it on and bled the brakes and the pedal was perfect. When I got home I noticed that the fluid level had dropped a bit and the next morning it was almost dry. I spotted the leak at the back of the master right where it goes into the booster. I figured lordco sold me a bad one so today i put a new one on and bled it, but wouldn't you know it, she's still leaking from the back.

Now im stumped as i doubt they gave me two bad masters. I noticed the gasket between master and booster looks quite old and crusty, and then it occured to me, is there maybe SUPPOSED to be fluid between the master and booster? maybe the gasket is bad and thats where the fluid is leaking?

PLease help

No. You are not supposed to have fluid going into your booster. If you're getting fluid there, say goodbye to that booster. You should've replaced that gasket, but I'm not saying that's the problem. Does it have an adjustable plunger on the end of the driving rod from the booster? Maybe it has extended the piston too far. Did it have the snap ring in there properly? You said your pedal was perfect. The fluid level stayed constant before you changed the MC? If it were me, there's something amiss with your system, maybe you need a new booster as well. Get another master from them. Or get one from somebody else. That's all the advice I can offer

thats good advice, i dont think fluid is getting into the booster as when i took off the leaking master it was just pooled in the little slot between the master and booster, i guess all i really need to know is there ever supposed to be fluid outside of the piston that gets pushed on by the booster rod? THe old master didn't leak any fluid. I think i will buy a new one so I dont have to swap over any parts.

Also, why is there a gasket between the two?
