wat should i do ?
well the d16y8 is the smallest motor of the honda family, with no vtec. there really isnt much you can do to them except the basic bolt ons mainly,i say go fora B-series vtec
y8's are VTEC equipped. They're just SOHC, and not very fast on their own.
You could build and turbo, and be satisfied with the results, or you could spend more to get a B16A for the N/A DOHCness with the same amount of displacement and torque. Enjoy the dissappointment of the torqueless wonder. If you're thinking of a DOHC choice, I would have to suggest a better displacement motor like the GSR or something.
EDIT: That, and the D15B that I have has less less displacement than the D16Y8

go B16 you wont be disiponted. i have one in my hatch and love it. i bet some gsr's(mostly the ones that are not running right) ls's and lsvtec and almost all of the other type of cars out there that arnt above 250 hp. but of course my b16 is built so i beat a little more things than a stock b16
Oh yeah, don't get me wrong. A built and upgraded B16 can easily be pretty fast. I'm just saying that there are other choices that some would call better for their base qualities. You may be dissappointed by the performance of a stock B16, which will not pull well until it's in the higher RPM.

Yeah, I feel bad for disproving everything he just said, but I feel I didn't try and offend the guy. I just needed to clear some things up.
I personally like my Y8 its more than enough boosted for most people and the Y8 tranny is the closest ratio for gearing but that is just my opinion. GL in your decision I just feel you are making a dumb decision by going B16, Id rather go LS Vtec and Produce more to the same amount of power as a b16a2 for less money than you are going to spend for the A2 itself. motor
ya i like my built B16 but you should do lsvtec it will let you do 12 psi boost and have that be a daily driver cause the ls block can take a ton of boost. i am going to sell my b16 block and get a b20 block to do lsvtec(or b20 vtec) and do 10psi boost and have that in my eg hatch
