Default 88CRX si Guage CLuster pin diagram

I need to vheck and make sure im wired up correctly....ive searched but everything is for 89-91 clusters and all the pics in the posts for 88cluster are expired and not working. Can anyone help. does it matter that the ecu is p28 obd1 for my jdmd15b?

if you found 89 then it's the same as 88, 89 is NOT the same as 90-91 so if you saw 89-91 then it's wrong. Your ECU pretty much has nothing to do with your cluster short of the CEL and speed signal, what problems are you having exactly?

Well lights are out for the cluster, when i hit the left blinker....the tach goes crazy, the damn fuel guage is innaccurate, as well the CEL bulb was taken out. Im going to buy a new cluster, but not before i check everything else.
I found a site BTW

so now I am guessing you have the wrong year cluster in there. 88-89 is the same and 90-91 are the same, you can plug them both up but the wires are different between the years and will cause the crazy problems your desrcibing, sounds like crap is grouding out in the wrond spots either way

too be honest i wouldnt doubt that the cluster is wrong.....The idiots originally tried to run a p06 ecu with a obdo dizzy on a jdm d15b(according to the original owner, who had to switch everything to make the p28 ecu work)
So if I buy a 88-89 cluster it will plug right up and work right? I also heard 88-89 cluster from civics will work as well.

Correct, if you have the 88-89 chassis then you need a CRX or Civic (same) cluster from any DX or Si and you should be ok

cluster doesnt matter its the wiring of the two https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1986294 theres the diagrams for both just make them match your cluster, so if you have a 88 89 hatch and 90 91 cluster depin your clips to match the 90 91 its simple should only have to change a few wires.

You still have not said what year your car actually is? And I am about 99% sure the Civic EX wasn't around til 1990.

The cluster matters if he wants to just plug it up like mentioned already, but yes if you know how to wire you can repin your plugs to run what ever cluster you want. if you do want to repin your cluster wires to accept a different year it is more than just a few wires to repin, it's about 13 total wires just doing the 90-91 to the 88-89 swap so I assumed you did not want to get this involved.

I would prefer minimal effort. If I have to, I will do a re-pin. Well is there a type of 88-89 civic cluster that WILL NOT work...so I know which to avoid?

im not sure if theres a 88 89 that wont work it varys from models as far as I know. repining isnt hard I didnt a Da teg cluster swap and it took like 25 minutes once i had the diagrams( which you already have).

yeah any 88-89 cluster will work, just as long as it has a tach it will be the same as the Si. In fact come to think it I have a cluster that will bolt right in for you, it came out of my '89 DX and works perfectly! I took it out to run an Ek Si cluster in mine, hit me up if you want it cause otherwise it's going on Ebay soon
