EG hatch, new springs, checked everything, but still sits uneven - ideas?
This car is in near mint condition structurally with no evidence of impact so I have a hard time believing the chassis is out of whack. Just got a set of H&R sports on my Koni's and noticed the right side sits about 1/4" higher in the rear and about 1/8" in the front. I could understand the front being off because of a turbo on one side, but the rear has definitely got a problem. I decided to swap the rear struts and measured them while they were out and they're identical. Now with the rears swapped, it changed nothing at all. I'm a bit annoyed because it will only get worse when I get in the car. It almost seems as the rear strut tower is higher on one side. Any ideas on this?
Bro, seriously, a QUARTER INCH.
The weight distribution on the car is more towards the driver's side anyway.
Nit pickin' ain't we?
Sure, whatever - to each his own.
By the time the driver is in place, what have you got? A small car that looks to be previously owned by a fat chick.

you've probably got something bent or.... your just now realizing that your FWD car has some messed up weigh dist. lol
coilovers are about the only way to get it really level...

I dicked around with the same problem for a while... measuring every damn thing... swapping springs from side to side... eventually gave up.
Then the horn went out, removed bumper to replace horn and no ****... the frame rail was still bent from an accident I was in a while back. Frame rail fixed and car is completely level, handles a lot better too.
It may look mint, doesn't mean that something isnt bent...

I'm more or less guessing here based on conversations with other car people and such (never worked in body shops), but I'm pretty sure there is alot frame damage that can not directly be seen with the eye.
Check with your local DMV and see about getting an accident report for your car. I did that with mine. ; )

When you tighten you suspension down, you are not supposed to tighten the top nut on the shocks until the car is sitting on the ground, level ground.
This could be why it sits different, if you tightened them before you lowered the car they may be at different heights??

No. The shocks don't hold the car up.
You are supposed to do that so it doesn't place a lot of force on the shock threads and you might strip them. That is all.
