Default rust under plastic cladding on 1990 CRX Si

I'm preparing my 90 crx for a new paint job and when I was removing the plastic cladding that sits underneath the door (actually on the bottom of the door sill where the jack points are) I discovered that my entire right side is rotted out bad.

Strangely the entire car is perfect with little to no rust but on the right bottom side under the plastic its all rotted out. It feels like the sheet metal there is extremely thin and flimsy. Does Honda sell this section of metal and is it relatively easy for a competent auto body guy to fix? i would probably cut the rotton sheet metal out and then media blast the actual unibody frame prior to spot welding in the new piece.

I would assume that this rust under the plastic cladding is a common thing on EF's. Too bad my car has it when the driver's side is 100% clean with not a single trace of rust

Suggestions on how to fix this issue and how I can possibly prevent my new metal from rusting and damaging the rest of my rex?

Thanks guys,

You mean on the door, or the part under the door?

Part under the door is called the rocker panels, and yes you can buy them. Search around youll find it. I dont know if honda sells them, but even if they do i dont recommend buying from them as itll be twice to three times more expensive than finding them somewhere else.

its the door sill/door rocker.

I have to replace mine

Never thought that on a car that had almost next to no rust that it would be lurking behind that plastic piece....

Oh well, it wasn't too bad to replace.
