when my car is running, there's a noticible 'whistle' coming from either the engine compartment or the interior or the vehicle. i cannot pinpoint the sound beings its such a high pitched noice. idk, maybe im deaf, but i know theres a whistle. what can this be? i was hinted it may be a fuel pump on the way out but this is definately a first in that i've never heard of this problem before. any help would be appreciated. thanks

 

do you have a aftermarket intake?aftermarket filter>?

 

does it whistle more at certain RPM's/speeds/throttle positions? Or when your radio is on? It could be a lot of things - intake, throttle body, audio amp ground loop noise, mouse under your seats, etc. either the engine compartment or interior gives us too many variables.

 

Ha mouse under the seats, I first thought of it being your intake, if you have one...

haha...no, the car is 100% stock. ummm, i really cant tell if the whistle fluctuates at different rpm's, its most loud at idle probably because thats when i can hear more clearly

 

Is it when you AC is on? If so, just about every integra that I have heard while running the AC, including mine, has a pretty distinctive whirr/whistle.

 

you need to use resistor type spark plugs on your car if you went cheap it will come through the speakers even when the stereo is turned off

have you checked all the hoses? vac hose.

could be P/S pump?

try to locate the sound

have you checked the pcv valve lately i have a 98 ls in my civic and i noticed a whistle coming from my pcv valve i replaced it for like 3 bucks and havent heard it since

 

b4 my dizzy went it sounded like there was a family of chipmunks under my hood... i told ppl it was my bov chirping
