how to put cv back in?
ok so i got my motor in and it starts up fine. now i'm down to puting the cv joints back into the transfercase, only thing is they are and absolute bitch to get lined up, nearly impossible to do. they will only slide in if they are perfectly straight but to get the shaft perfectly staight i have to remove the strut. but then you cannot put the strut back on with the cv in place. after about 6 hours last night me and 2 friends finally got the drivers side one to go in. now i've been working on the passenger side for about 4 hours and i'm absolutly pissed. how in the hell are you suposed to put these things in? the damn hub weighs like 40lbs and is a pain in the *** to menuver and the little joints on the end of the shaft refuse to align. its difficut to get thenm to line up even without the hub attached. any tips?
Have you tried inserting the axle into the hub and then grabbing the knuckle and axle together and sliding them towards the tranny together? You can have the upper control arm attached to the knuckle and it will help keep it lined up...that's how I've done it. That's with the tie rod and LCA disconnected.
or take a 5 lb dead blow and tap on the axle hub until the c ring locks in place
it sounds like your trying to hard. axles are very easy to install.
