Default Question on removing e-brake

I'm cleaning the inside of my CD5 real good, I have my carpet removed.

Now, if anybody in here has seen themuffinman/my speedo FAQ you would see that the area surrounding my e-brake is loaded with gunk. I worked a good amount of it off, but there is still some under the e-brake bracket.

Is it OK for me to remove the bracket with 2 bolts with the e-brake lever still attached? I want to clean it out but not if I have to wind up disconnecting the tension cables.

hum i did it on a 94 and a 01 accord and you just need to remove the tension (aka no e-brake on) undo the 2 bolts and maybe undo the bolts (10mm) retaining the cables bracket

but im not sure if yours is the same..

Yea, just put it in gear so the car doesnt roll, and take off the bracket. While your ebrake isn't engaged, there is hardly any tension on those cables. -And if you think that area is bad, wait until you see the uglyness waiting for you under the shifter mounting plate. Actually, that whole area is bad all the way to the back seats. If you've ever driven around with a coke in your cup holders, you'll damn sure know it after removing your center console area.

Dude, I've been to hell and back.

It's not bad under the shifter, but go to my thread in the FAQ and look lol.

Thanks for answering my n00b question guys
