97 Integra getting a jdm 98 spec b18c swap.

97 Integra getting a jdm 98 spec b18c swap.
I purchased a 97 GSR that needs a upgrade. I am looking into swaping in a JDM 98+ spec B18C.
If anyone can ponit me into the right way to make this happen. I need to know if this is pretty much plug n play. I heard that you have to use the GSR harness becuase the JDM wiring is for RHD conversion. Anyways, I hope to get some help.

You heard right.
You need to reuse your existing GSR harness on the JDM engine, it will plug n' play.
the swap is plug n play as well.
You might need to get your exhaust piping modified though, if you run the JDM 4-1 header which has a 2.5" collector.

The only thing that i am somewhat still confused about is: My 97 GSR is obd2... and I am not sure what the 98+ B18C type R is. I think its obd2a or b ? ,but if i use the existing wiring from the gsr... would this keep it to obd2 and i would just need a conversion harness to plug the ECU ?

all JDM ITR engines are OBD2a spec from 97-00. The ecu will plug directly into your 97 GSR ecu plugs w/out a jumper harness...
