I've tried to argue this point with people I go to school with from them saying I'll spend less money than you to get my GM/Dodge/Ford to go fast and you'll still be slower...ha low 14's with this and that and this and that? all I gotta do is get a big block bore it out, and put it together good, and I'll be running 12's...what's VTEC? B16, B18, B20? WTF is that?

 

VTEC - Variable Valve Timing and Electronic lift Control.

The # after B is the liter size of the engine.

i love my EF cuz its small/lightweight/awesome reliabilty/gas mileage/easy to fix...etc.etc. the list goes on forever

 

Oh no, I KNOW what the B-series are and what VTEC is, just to clear that up, and I LOVE everything about my car...even the fact that it leaks in the door seal on the passenger side(found that out this morning, any ideas on how to fix it would be great) and it's primered black right now...but seriously...do we REALLY pay more for performance parts than the Domestic camp does?

 

Because all imports retain their value much better than a domestic.

 

the import market is way more expensive then the domestic aftermarket. its an easy business concept. supply and demand. a lot of demand and not enough supply so the price equilibrium is where its at. the domestics on the other hand have been around quite a bit longer when it comes to dragging so their stuff is a bit cheaper.

 

its true that hoping up a domestic is much cheaper than our imports, but there is way more to it than that. I think that our cars can look WAY better than domestics for the most part, and they get WAY better gas mileage, and usually they handle WAY better. So you win some you lose some. I just wish everyone could have respect for all car lovers. Like if a guy has a nice clean, fast *** mustang, give him his props. IF some guy whops on me with his old school 5.0, I give him the thumbs up, and I appreciate it when he gives them back. Thats what its all about, people who like cars respecting the work that others have put into their car, wether its an import or domestic.

 

 

 

That's exactly how I feel, I'm just sick of people not respecting what I do when i give them props on there's all the time, it wouldn't be so bad, but NO ONE here has a clue what I put into my car...it just pisses me off, that if I respect them, they can't respect me simply because i drive an Import

 

Yeah, I don't always get props back when I give them out, but thats what being the bigger person is all about. Like when an almost completely stock 96 or so 5.0 pulled up next to me and gave me the thumbs down just because....I just drove away. If he only knew how much work I had put into my car maybe he would have respect, but maybe not. Either way, life goes on.

 

i've owned both; a bigblock nova, and now i own a hatch... i'm in the same boat as the other guys... anybody who puts their heart into their rides, deserves some respect. why i like an ef better than a domestic is the challenge... anybody can make a domestic(v8) car go fast. it takes time and patience to make a honda quick. plus they handle well and look good.

 

Hell yes. We pay WAY more... pick up an issue of Car Craft and take a look at the prices of domestic stuff... much much much cheaper, for two reason I would guess. 1. Tons of that stuff, much more compitetion among companies who manufacture it. 2.People will pay the high prices for import stuff. Domestic guys won't

Quality.
And the fact that when our cars can beat them
when we only have four cylinders is Priceless.

 

Yeah....there's so much more to a car than the 1/4 mile. I love the FEEL of my crx... how it's conected to the road, how it does what I want it to. I like to drive a car, and not have the car drive me.

Speed is good and all, but ultimately I would have a much better time driving a crx than driving a Boeing 747, even though one obviously is faster, probably quicker, and probably a couple thousand times more powerful.

 

when i roll to the track....most of the domestic guys give me props on my rex. But its because im one of the quickest hondas there. But, seriously most imports that roll to the track run like 16-17 sec runs.....so they automaticly think if u drive an import ur slow. But when they see that u have a 13 sec honda......then you will get a lil bit of respect. Sucks, i know......but i love it when i hand a domestic guy his ****

Domestics are cheaper and faster...usually. You could pick up an 80s Camaro and rebuild the 350 engine for like $1500 (forged pistons and rods probably would fit in that budget) and throw a NOS kit on it for another $500 and you'll have a very quick car. I still think that imports are "better", if only because when I look at pushrods I shiver...

i love my car because it is so nice to have a sohc 1.6L stay on a GT mustangs door all the way through 0-about 80 when i had a passenger, 17's, full kit, and missed third......i say through 80 cuz we left at the light and i stopped when i was close to red line 3rd.....

and i raced a old 5.0 tonight, with my friend in the car , and to 3rd, i only fell back from even...... to my bumper at his back bumper. he has some type of intake and flowmasters on the stang..... I want boost!!!!!!!!!!
