Speaking of sway bars. It is worth replacing the stock one? I am assuming the Aftermarket will be stiffer, Correct? What brands or what should I look for in a aftermarket sway bar?

I liked my Suspension techniques. I think it was 25mm front and 19mm rear. Stock rear is 14mm IIRC.

Where did you see improvements? Handling perhaps and sharp turns?

that's what i'm goin thru at the moment. i have a del sol with a 22mm front bar and no rear bar. i already installed the 22mm type r rear bar but am not sure what to do about the front bar.
i guess my next question is... what is the diameter of the type r front swaybar??

The sway bars reduced body roll and helped it to corner better, but I also shanged the shocks and springs at the same time, so I cannot comment on the bars alone.

they help with all turns, but the sweeping turns (like fwy onramps for example) is where you'll really feel the difference. one of the best mods you can do with your suspension.

just get the rear itr one. make sure you buy the proper bracket/mounting hardware, or you will have tear out problems as documented by many on this board. do a search.

ITR/GSR 24mm front sway, ITR 22mm rear sway, Cusco or Neuspeed front tie bar, lots of brand for the rear tie bar.

My next step would be JDM '98 Spec 25mm front / 23mm rear.

For the extreme, Mugen 26F/26R.

In stock an Integra (except the Type-R) has a handling characteristic of understeer (or "push"). Now if you want to change the handling characteristic to neutral (ie. no understeer and no oversteer ("loose") you will want to increase the size of the rear swaybar. This is why the Integra Type-R has a 22mm rear swaybar and the other Integra models have a 12mm or 14mm rear swaybar. The Integra Type-R is well know for it balanced handling (ie. neutral handling) and it is mainly because of the increased diameter of the rear swaybar.

I personally recommend only upgrading the rear swaybar and I prefer the Type-R rear swaybar. It is inexpensive (~$105-$110 for everything needed) and it can be bought at any Acura dealership.

If you would like further information on installing the Type-R rear swaybar, you can go to my webpage at http://www.geocities.com/bretq/swaybar_install.html.

Oh yeah you can also add one the trunk. Is that worth it??? I think that is a Strut Tower bar rather than sway bar or is it the same thing?

Do all '94-97 LS/RS/GS/SE have a 22mm front sway bar like the GSR's?

No. GSR's 24mm. '96 LS-SE also is 24mm.
I believe RS and LS are 22mm.

I have no personal experience with the Suspension Technique swaybars so I really cannot comment on them directly. But if you were to compare their diameters (which affects torsional stiffness) the ST 19mm rear swaybar to the 22mm Type-R rear swaybar, the Type-R rear swaybar is ~80% stiffer than the ST.

I have read feedback from people who have installed the Neuspeed 19mm rear swaybar and they commented that they still noticed some understeer. Whereas, most people (including myself) that have installed the Type-R 22mm rear swaybar have commented that the handling is neutral (no understeer/no oversteer). So it really comes down to personal preference (ie. do you want understeer or neutral handling?). As mentioned before, I would not change the front swaybar. If you increase the diameter of the front swaybar (along with increasing the diameter of the rear swaybar) you will negate some of the handling improvements of adding the rear swaybar.

Cost wise the Type-R rear swaybar is nearly half the price of the ST.

Yes. As long as the Integra front swaybar is from a '94-'01 it will fit on a Del Sol. The '94-'01 Integra share the same suspension with the '93-'97 Del Sol.
