quick question about K&N filter
im about to do the mod with the stock intake filter, the mod where u cutt out the stock filter part and use the k&N ru-2820 filter in its place...my quetion is will the cover go over the k&n or will i have to leave it open???
I used the 2820 on my old LS and was able to put the top piece of the air box on. But I made that before the K&N was available for DC's. Not worth the time to make your own out of the 2820, IMO. And personally, I will not use K&N filters again in any of my cars.
Uhhh, it will go on.
I have a 2820 with the end pieces glued on and it works fine.
Not worth the time to make it?
Quite a bit cheaper than buying the "correct" one.

The RU-2820 K&N mod fits almost exactly like stock. It just doesn't have the end nub, but it really doesn't need it. I still have mine from almost 10 years ago. Started out life in my 97 GSR, then went in my ITR in 00 and it's been in off and on throughout the years.
A while back someone found a different filter that would work (might of had a velocity stack), but not much publicity was given because shortly thereafter K&N actually released one for the Integra.

The correct part is $60 vs. $30 for the universal part. Maybe if you're some high school kid making $6/hr, it's worth it to saw, cut, glue, but for me, I'd rather spend that extra $30 for the hassle-free, straight drop-in filter.
