New sedan with some problems
Hello, I've been surfing these forums for a few months now, but I finally got a honda so I thought I'd post.
It is an 88 sedan lx and was $675 bucks.
Its a manual with 185k and power locks windows and mirrors.
It is missing the driver side mirror, has bad paint from where the previous owner removed some racing stripes, a crack in the dash and other minor cosmetic things.
My first question is, did I get an ok deal?
My second question is, why is the engine overheating? It just started today, and it was really hot outside. I got off the interstate going ~70 and noticed that it was all the way to the H. I turned on the heat for the rest of the day (I was delivering so I drove a lot) and it helped keep the temp where it usually is. Could this just have been from the fact that it was about 100 degrees outside? Or is there probably more to this problem.

Cool username.
1. You cant beat $675
2. I would replace your thermostat and flush the cooling system. No telling when the last time your car saw that treatment.
From what you described, it doesnt sound like your fan is out, but you may want to make sure that it's operational.
Thats a start. Hope it helps.

Make sure when you flush the coolant that you fully bleed the air out of the system, as that can cause you to overheat
