The clear coat on my cf hood is fading. I know that the clear coat on the cf hood is crap and thats why it always fades/oxidizes. HOwever, Im thinking about taking it to a local body shop and having them re-clearcoat it. I was wondering, how long will that clear coat last once its been done by the body shop? I do not want to worry about oxidation for a while.

 

If its just fading, try wetsanding with 1000-1500 grit and then buff with a fine polishing compound until you get the shine back

 

i'd say take it to a body shop and let them put on 4 coats of clear coat. this is what i did to my cf hood, wet sand the hood down then applyed 4 coats of clear coat and it came out lookin new then buff

 

My hood started fading with the factory gelcoat in a month or so. I got it sanded down and cleared and buffed and it looks as good as it did the day I rolled it out of paint almost 1 1/2 years ago.
