Default Proper tranny fluid for the Mugen LSD (2-way)

Anyone knows the proper tranny fluid to use for the Mugen 2-way LSD. I'm currently using Motul Gear FF. Every time I turn my wheels, it will make this groaning noise and the front wheels make this knocking sound as though something is skipping. I remembered when I was using the KAZZ tranny fluid, it wasn't as bad, but the sound still exist. Any recommendation from the first-hand users? Thanks.

cusco fluid is good... I used a mix of Redline MTL and Ford Friction modifier to keep things quiet too.

Do u think that it would help if I were to add the Ford Friction modifier to the existing Motul Gear FF. I really don't want to change them out as I just had them changed and they're kind of expensive. If the friction modifier helps, which model should I get? Part #?

it's worth a shot...you'd probably have to bleed some of the motul out anyway since the friction mod stuff from Ford is about 150ml or so?

Can't remember the part number. I just went to the local dealership and asked them for it and they knew exactly what I was looking for. It comes in a small bottle - and smells bad....

I used to buy them by the half dozen to get a better deal. It's been so long I don't even remember how much it costs. But I've used it and recommended it to others who have metal diffs and it really seems to do the job. I don't see it costing more than $10.00-15.00 cad per bottle.

Is that diff a clutch pack diff? If so, you will hear some "knocking, clacking" as that's how the design works.

If not... try the aditives... but search for a thread from Walker111 regarding his cusco clutch pack diff. I'm not sure what fluid he ended up using.

HTH...

That was sort of what happened to my Mugen LSD. There were be chatters and wheel hops even at the slowest speed.

Today, I've decided to changed the Motul Gear FF tranny fluid to Redline MT-90 with Ford Friction Modifier and BINGO, no more sound and wheel hopping.

Thanks to RagingAngel for his help. Everything is all good now and I'm a happy camper.

Glad it worked out for you. I used the Redline MTL (did they change the name?) instead of the MT-90....and found it worked best with the MTL, so that might be something you consider later on.

This combo was originally recommended to me by a friend back east who drove his car daily, even through the harsh winters and unlike the KAAZ oil which is very thick, the MTL provided smooth shifting right down to -20deg C temps.

Just keep in mind to change the tranny fluid at the same time as your engine oil...as clutch pack LSDs contaminate the tranny fluid quickly due to their aggressive wear characteristics.

.....if you try and save a few bucks like I did... you'll probably end up with grinding gears attributed to the floating bits of metal.... fun stuff pulling transmissions....
