CARBON FIBER
ok well i bought a carbon fiber trunk years ago for my em1 ( this is when they were still prototype and custom made to order). the clear was SUPPOSE to be a clear resin that can handel uv, well it faded like two months after i got it and the wouldn't take it back( dont deal with c-wings the c/s sucks and the trunk doesn;t fit right) because it was over 30 days. well im going to try to sand the trunk down and put a real uv clear on it , but if that doesnt work what tips can you guys give me on painting carbon fiber.

I would say prep it and paint it like any other panel on a car.

most carbon fiber items will have this problem, so you have 1 of 2 options.....ALWAYS get it re-coated by a car painter when you first get the item.
The second option is here.....

NOTE: This must be done AGGRESSIVELY if you are looking to have a true outcome. My friend did this on his ek, but very mildly and there was defiently potential and it did look very nice.

x's2 ....thats what I do ,,,and it looks graet ,,no more of that yellowing
if you prep the cf trunk.DO NOT sand past the clear and expose the carbon fiber ((which is really easy to do on corners)) ,cuz when your body man goes to re clear ,the exposed carbon will suck-up the clear and mine got 3coat of clear because of my mistake..my paint guy wasn't happy
you ever mess arond with fiber glass???well you know when you put the resin on the fabric and it soaks it up,,,,well same thing with your c/f trunk if any of the c/f gets exposed
I prepped mine with a 6"Dewalt DA and 3M 1000grit ...man that **** is expensive
hope this helps
