f*** those big ass trucks
so picture this, driving to work at 4:30 in very foggy conditions, when out of no were a hugh *** truck tire appears right in front of your 6 month old SI. DIdnt even have time to get out of the way, i ran right over it and messed up the left side of my bumper pretty good. ANd some how the tire took my left side wheel well cover and my skidplate. SO ive been pretty bumed. I have to take it to get checked out tomorrow, but F*** those truck tire man, they can do some serious damage.
yup i can vouch for that a car ran over a tire and hit the center of my front bumper cracked my grill somehow and scratched my hood then it flew off and hit the car behind me
I think there should be a law imposed that If they blow a tire they have to call a government highway maintence agency of some sort to come pick it up immediately. Then the company responsible for the truck pays for that service. I've dodged a few in my Si but never in fog. Sucks man.

yea man it wasnt fun. I def. agree with them getting a law to put a end to this. It causes alot of accidents and damages to cars. But i am getting a new bumper out of with from my insurance so its not to bad.
my little EF took a truck tire back in the day. Tore the inner fenderwell out of the passenger side and ripped both CV boots on the passenger side as well. I had to removes parts of the truck tire from behind the tranny once I pulled over..

I hear you man same thing happened to me while in my g/f's 06 altima. It was really dark and at the last second I saw it but it was too late. Luckily her car sits quite high from factory so it didn't really damage the front bumper, but boy did it sound like it ripped everything from under the car. Thank God nothing was damaged.

I don't think that the truck drivers can tell when they blow a tire unless it is one of the front wheels or something. Good idea though.
In SC, you can dial *HP on you cell to talk to highway patrol. I've done it a couple of times to and report debris and they are usually pretty good about getting it cleaned up. I know other states have a number you can dial to do this, just don't know what they are.

Yep, I agree, they can really do some big damage.
A work colleague of mine was almost killed when he hit a large chunk of a truck tire in his Nissan Twin Turbo 300Z. Like you, he did not see it till it was too late. In his case, he lost control of the car, hit the center divider and rolled over a bunch of times. He was being stupid because he was going about 130mph at the time. He was damn lucky there was no other cars on the freeway, and damn lucky he survived. He had a ruptured spleen, both arms broken (right arm in 2 places), several broken ribs, punctured lung and more cuts, scrapes and bruises than you could count.
I also saw in Mythbusters, where they proved a chuck of truck tire can take your head off if your next to truck when it comes off, and comes through the side window.

i really dont know what it is but in the summer the highways here in New York are covered with blown tires. Its def. messed up that they know its blown and dont do nothing about it. It sucked but i am getting a new bumper from it .
they should... i have 2 dump trucks in my families construction bussiness. retreads are illegal for front tires cause of heat melting them right off... but its gonna do the same on the rear tires... we dont use em... and it sounds like a shotgun when a tire blows on a rig on the highway...
