Few Questions about Track Times
I'm not entirely certain if this post should go here. I would've posted it in the Drag Racing forum but figured I'd get more relevant responses in here. Mods if you need to lock this its fine.
So yesterday I went up to the local drag strip with my cousin and uncle, it was the first time I have ever raced on a track.
It was a test and tune event. Basically I just ran my car exactly how it is in street form (I didn't drop the pressure in the tires, kept the spare tire and jack in). My car is a 1994 Honda Prelude VTEC on some cheap street tires (not drag radials) w/ a 3" Ebay Intake.
Here are my results (oh yea, it's only an 1/8 mile track):
1st Run - 2nd Run - 3rd Run - 4th Run - 5th Run
R/T - 1.232 - 1.076 - .991 - .618 - .973
60' - 2.500 - 2.541 - 2.495 - 2.850 - 2.468
330' - 6.841 - 6.934 - 6.700 - 7.652 - 6.718
1/8 - 10.394 - 10.525 - 10.132 - 11.391 - 10.205
MPH - 69.85 - 68.82 - 71.92 - 66.23 - 71.03
I basically just want to know if these are on par for a basically stock 4th Gen Prelude and if not what things should be better and what not. I know I've got to work on my reaction time, hopefully that will come with time. I missed 2nd on the 4th pass
. I was real nervous it being my first time up there and all. I finally got calmed down for one and got a .618 but...
I'm hoping that by adding on the BPI Flowstack & Filter along with some drag radials at the proper pressure, removing the spare tire and jack, maybe a CF Hood and electronic exhaust cutout and more seat time I'll be able to get into the mid 9's on the 1/8. Unless I find a large amount of money and I can start building the car how I'd like to. I'm hoping the tires will help my 60' and cut down on wheel hop(I only experienced it once and I think it was due to my launching it too high).
Let me know what you think. Thanks

Lower your tires pressure for sure. Get your 60ft's down everything else will pick up. Thing with the track is you have to keep at it. Also don't be afraid to try different launching rpm's and techniques
. Practice makes perfect.

Instead of getting drags at this time I would use the money on other mods(2.5 inch exhaust would be ideal) . Your averaging 2.5 60 ft's you can get low 2.2 to high 2.1's on street tires. ( I have been 2.13s on falken ziex 5 or 6 years ago )> just try to work on your 60 ft times and play with air pressure is what I would do.

what would you suggest as a starting point for the air pressure? i know it varies a lot depending on track conditions and such but a good starting point to start messing around from?
if the track is not busy, take a pound out each run and see what nets the best 60ft. Your getting out of the hole pretty sloppy however, your times arent TOO bad considering your 60ft. There are quite a few people busting out low 9's and high 8's on relative stock 4th gens. Practice practice!!!

Yea, I really have to work on my R/T, hopefully with more seat time I'l get a little more comfortable and be able to consistently get lower R/T's. That combined with working out the tire pressure will hopefully show some 1/10's shaved off of my time. Thanks for the help.

dont worry about reaction time for now. Unless you are doing bracket racing, the R/T doesnt factor into your ET. You could sit there for eternity and the clock wouldn't start until you left staging.

I didn't know about the reaction times. Thanks for the advice though. Hopefully I'll be getting my times down and more consistent.
