Default Anyone know about G60's?

This is OT I know.

I was wondering if anyone on here has experience with Corrado G60 engines in relation to HPDE's. I have a MK2 Jetta and a G60 engine. Before I rebuild the engine and have the G-ladder rebuilt I was just trying to find out how reliable it might be out on track. Just a stock rebuild, nothing extra.

Don't rebuild the G60, it will just blow up.

Switch to a snail, or lysholm or something.

If you rebuild the G60 it should be good for awhile, of course.

A lot of people would say put a turbo on the G60 engine instead. They can handle a LOT of boost, and even a quick spooling small turbo at low boost will make more power than the G-ladder.

(but I got out of VW's just before attempting this myself, so no direct experience here.)

I had a Glader rebuilt once, it ALMOST lasted 9,000

Then I put on a snail. It was cheaper, made WAY more power, and lasted forever.

Lysholm cost way too much. How are the engines themselves, G-ladder not included?

The G60 engine itself is basically your average 1.8L 8V VW design, which is pretty simple and bulletproof. But the whole thing is built for boost. I don't remember specifics, but compression ratio, valves, cams, etc.
Pushing 17psi with a turbo on a stock G60 engine is very possible, I think some have gone up to 21psi without doing anything special.
