Default half-size radiator

I've search but not much info that would fit for me. I'm thinking about running a half-size mishimoto radiator in my 5th gen prelude (s/ced) my question is i know many luders whom go with the half-size rad runs a turbo setup, which helps them clear up some space. I'm wondering if it would give enough cooling effect for a supercharged motor instead? I'm trying to stick with mishimoto for the price wise. Would running a half-size rad cause any problems for me or should i run a full size dc2?

with a good slim fan you should be fine with a half rad, just make sure you block off the open space or else air won't flow thru your rad it will just go around it.

Run the biggest radiator you can fit.

the mishimoto half rad holds more fluid them the stock rad. but just like any coolant system if your lines arent bled correctly you will have over heating issues. also sense air takes the path of least resistance the air tends to go around the half rad more then going through it. so making a block off plate for the open end helps.

Other than making room for Turbos I can't understand why anyone would use a smaller radiator.
I personally run a C&R full size......
Maybe thats why I can do 45min track sessions on 90*+ days@100% without issue.
Full size FTW!

a little off topic but does anyone know the temperature ranges represented by the bars on a 4th gen stock water temperature gauge? for example, does the first bar show up at 150*, the second bar at 200*, the third at 220* etc?

Don't what the temps end up being but I know in 100k miles of Prelude driving I have only seen it cross the 1/2 way mark once and I had a broken radiator hose.
With my C&R radiator I have seen it go up to 1/2 way and back to 1/4 in 70* temps.

I'm running the Mishimoto half-size with 12" slim fan on my 4th gen without any problems here in Texas - was 100 degrees today.

However, I do not do any type of road racing or drive my car hard, so I'm not exactly sure it it would handle that type of punishment. I am interested in upgrading to a full size Koyo aluminum radiator.

if you need the extra room, with a good fan, you will never have any problems. fully built, lots of boost, and beating teh crap out of it, or sitting in traffic, i never have a prob...if you dont need the room no real reason for it, except maybe price

btw-i have not blocked off the other half, if anything i like the fresh air keeping the engine bay cool, and still no overheating problems...

the only reason I could see to run a halfsize on a supercharger would be because of a header not being compatiable with a full size rad.

But I'm not sure of any headers that require a half size rad, maybe the RMF drag header?
