Default Hytech Exhaust Customer Service

Has anyone delt with hytech exhaust before? To be honest Im pretty ******* pissed right now. I ordered a custom header and normal catback exhaust from them May 30 and it was supposed to be done in 4-6 weeks. Its now August 8th and I still havent been given a date when it will be done. There was a peroid of probably 2 weeks in July when he didn't even asnwer the phone or return the couple of message I left "We planned for next week, but thats not for sure". Better ******* be made of gold for that bullshit customer service and wait time during race season .

HAHAHA!

Tony was being sarcastic...there is no customer service forum.

On a side note...people buying car parts for their build from a custom fabricator...OUGHT to have figured out by now that things GENERALLY take twice as long as predicted. Food for thought.

you said it best yourself..."in the middle of race season." what did you expect...really?

I expect a date for a product that isnt 2x's the amount needed. If you do custom work for a living for 20+ years you would think that you would have the knowledge and experience to have enough planning to give the customer a good window of time to be done along with the courtesy to call them and not have them have to call you all the time to see whats going on. Thats what I expect, and I think I speak for a majority of customers

I agree that if the wait time is going to be outrageous, then say so up front.
Also, if something goes wrong that may delay the project outside of the projected delivery time, inform the customer. Don't wait for an anxious customer to call out of desperation.
That said, Hytech has treated many of the rsx guys well, this may be an exception.

I was told he was busy with formula one season and that would be the reason for the 4-6 week wait NOT the 12 weeks im sitting at right now

Dayum. 9 months. That must have been painful. When I order something custom, the first thing I ask is how long. I can understand there could've been a shortage on something but damn not for a couple months.

Were you patient throughout the whole time? if so

I'm a pretty forgiving person but if it isnt done by next thursday Ill take my business elsewhere; and any time and materials that he has put into it he's not getting a cent from me for it

I did call him once a week to check up. But don't get me wrong, I gave him a piece of my mind a couple of times.

Just my .02. I ordered a cat back exhaust from him at the end of Feb. He said it would take 3-4 weeks to get it to me. After many excuses and being ran around I am still waiting. He has even shipped other orders that he received after I placed mine. He never answers emails I send him and when I call I get the same ol' "it be 2 more weeks". I knew that it would take some time to make this exhaust but he has misled me multiple times...... and seeing this thread sends me to the highest point of pissedation.

I am canceling my order. His arrogance is sickening and I can not see how any of us can patronize a person/company that does business such as this guy.

BTW, good luck with your order.

I too got into the whole "two more weeks" bullshit last year. It's impossible to get through to a live person there, and clearly they don't care about the consumer parts, just the race contracts.

Two things need to happen -- Hytech needs to hire more people to deal with the orders, or they need to stop taking custom orders and leading people on.

He didn't get my business, Dave at SMSP did. Dave is awesome to work with; he replies to e-mails, returns phone calls, and gets **** built FAST and with good quality welding.

I had same waiting and customer service experience. However when I finally got my full order, about 7 months after I ordered it, I was very pleased with the product. It was everything I expected in terms of quality, and it made fabulous power and torque, an allowed tuning VTEC down to 3000 RPM on an ITR motor. I am in the end very satisfied, except for the lousy customer service of course. But time made me forget about it and product is well worth the money.

I called two weeks ago and asked for a d-series STS legal header. I never got his name but the guy I spoke with every time I called was really cool. I told him I was super crunched for time since Nationals is next week and he said call back in a week. I did. He said call back in another week (which was today). I did and the header is finished and we finalized the payment and shipping info. It's being shipped overnight.

Frankly, I'm amazed that he was able to pull it together for me on such short notice. He did have tubes bent already but he had to make the collectors and flanges and weld it all up. He did mention that he'd work on Saturday if need be to finish it because I was a racer. Maybe that helped?

I'm very pleased after hearing about the trouble people have been having getting their orders completed.

HyTech = the worst service ever. He will tell you 'a couple weeks' for over a year and you still won't have a header. If you want results in less than a year, go with SMSP.

Yep, the header showed up today as promised. 16 days from the time I first called John.

I wouldn't call that bad service. Obviously, YMMV.

So you are saying his customer service is great? \

By the number of ppl here it seems very clear to me that he is a LAGGER .

Whenever something is custom built the vendor should always let the customer know the wait time. For any reason the vendor cannot produce on the time stated a curtousy call or eamil is mandatory.

Well, that is just goodie goodie for you. You are one out of many that have experienced the opposite.

Of course he'll break his neck for the opportunity to have his header finish in the top 2-4 spots in a race.

I called to cancel my order shortly after my previous post. John requested that I give him until the end of Aug or first week of Sept. As you can guess, still no exhaust.

To further elaborate on what has me so ticked in the first place is that when I ordered my exhaust John went to look and see if he had all the parts to construct it. He returned to the phone claiming he had enough parts to do 3 twin loop exhausts.

The solution:

1. stop selling parts to non-race customers
2. get more employees
3. give realistic estimates on build time

You could just lie and say you were a racer?

I don't blame him... if people want to buy his stuff he can run his business how ever he wants. It's not like he's not busy and is dying for a sale.

If I had people lining up and wanting to pay all kinds of crazy money for something I made with my own hands I'd do it my way too.

Ya'll can bitch all you want. I don't think it matters.
