Sept 8-9 NASA Event at Gingerman (HPDE Only)
Time is moving quick and we're already over half-way through the season. Up next is at Gingerman on Sept 8-9.
What makes this event a little different from a tyipcal NASA event is that it is HPDE ONLY, no race or time trial groups. It allows more track time (less groups) and a more relaxing environment. It would have classroom/download sessions that put more emphasis on HPDE Driver Training, on track etiquette, heal/toe, feeling of the car, and chassis dynamics, etc.
Many of us consider Gingerman as our "home track" and know the track and area pretty well. NASA has not held an event there since 2004. It's good to have them back at this track again.
For the more "advanced" drivers, this event also offers:
- Competition School for those who wants to get a race license.
- Instructor Clinic for those who wants to be certifiied to instruct for future NASA events (and drive for free).
- TT Licensing for those who wants to start competing in Time Trials.

For those who has taken the special offer when signing up for Road America, you do NOT need to sign up online. Simply send an email to dave@nasamidwest.com telling him that you are cashing in the offer. He would sync up your CC info for the special rate (50% off!) and you are in.
And once again, here are more info on their volunteer program to earn free track time. If you have the free time, do it! They always need volunteers and the compensation is well worth it:

Besides driving, South Haven is a very nice vacation town with a beautiful beach and great restaurants. There are several hotels right off the highway and only 5 miles from the track.

I remember that Dave had mentioned he might let TT groups into this event, this was really early on though (I think he mentioned it at the Factory5 meet and greet). Is it confirmed now that TT will definitely not be invited?

Good luck on Labor Day. Keep it in one piece.
You can use your daily driver for their comp school. Reason being that you wouldn't really go ***** out high speed at comp school. What you will be doing most is driving side-by-side, practice passing and being passed, watch mirrors, everything is toned down.

I don't think TT will be in it. Registration page only shows Group 4, not Group 4/TT. Even if TT class is open, I highly doubt that there would be many entries tho, because the Nationals is only a week away. People might use this event as shakedown tho.

Just did some random reading on the nasa forum, and now your required to run a fully prepped car. So we might show up and we might not. Not really sure the car has the ability to last a full 2 days, and no taking off the 60trim is not allowed.

Really..... maybe street car was only ok with Driving Concept.

Driving Concept held a school at the MAM and Road America event. Looks like those were the only 2 events they would be here in the Midwest.

Not sure the exact head count, but looks like there'll be quite a few RSX's and S2K's there to represent the Honda crowd.
Also, Allen (the guy who wrecked the silver EG at Autobahn) will be there in his new race car.

new NSX prototype spotted at the track (rly)

What's happening here??

I went to a road course, and a drag race broke out!

Miatas

to Mustangs

to Evos and an STI

I actually spotted this guy on the way back to Chicago twice, once at the gas station and once on I94.
