Default bad idea???

I have a 70mm skunk2 throttle body and aem v2 cai. the end of the cai that couples with the tb is much smaller than 70mm (i think it's 2.25", or 57.15mm). The v2 seems like an awesome cai, but would i be better off with my k&n ram intake with larger piping?

The coupler reduces in size to meet the throttle body.

Dont waste your money on the V2...its nothing more than the regular AEM intake.

haha... too late. but it's ok, got it used for like $80.

syndacate: i know i can get couplers to reduce from 70mm to 2.25in, but my main concern is that the smaller intake piping in the v2 will not allow as much air mass to enter the IM as the cheaper ram k&n. is this a bogus assumption? does it not really matter?

You will be fine.

Think of it as in the opposite with exhaust systems....

You can have a 2.5" DP - 3" exhaust...what you dont want to do is have a 3" DP w/ a 2.5" exhaust. That would be called Bottle-necking and a big no no.
