Quite exhaust for b18 crx???
I am looking for a pretty quite exhaust for my b18 crx. I'd go with a stock crx exhaust but I'm guessing that would cut performace a little too much. If anyone has any ideas I appreciate it.
For my B18b, I bought the components I wanted to use and took it to a muffler shop.
I'm using a hi-flow cat, a resonator, a Borla muffler and a resonated tip with 2.25" piping. All said an done I had under $300 in it.
Observations:
- Its completely tolerable to drive for extended periods of time on the freeway. No annoying drone.
- Quiet enough not to attract unwanted attention at idle, partial throttle, below 4000 rpm.
- Above 4000 rpm and full throttle, it starts getting loud enough to notice.
- By 5500 rpm its a full on scream.

Thanks, the only problem is I'm looking for something quiter even when getting on it. Although, I'm guessing that would restrict too much flow. If so, I'll probably try this setup. When wot what kind of sound does it make? Some are more tolerable than others. Thanks

What resonator/resonator tip/high flow cat/ borla exhaust model did you go with?

i have a similar setup on my b16
big magnaflow resonator
dynomax super turbo muffler
2.25 crush bent tubing
its not stock quiet but pretty quiet. when you get on it it is still not really loud, just a little throaty. i have also been told it was the best sounding b16 they have heard.

If you want quiet, go with something like a dynomax quiet-flow muffler.... not the highest performing, but really a quiet muffler, and much nicer than stock...cheap too!
You could also try Tanabe Medallion Touring. Its parts of thier under 93 db line. It has a deeper tone to it thats not too loud. Check out the sound clips of the Civic hatch http://www.tanabe-usa.com/soundclips.asp (its in the touring section)
not to sound like im hating on you. but for 300 why did u just get something like a greddy? my buddy got his greddy sp2 for 350 shipped. and i got my greddy sp1 for 270 installed at a local shop. just curious.
