Mista Bone/Transzex its for a 1996 honda civic ex, I was told it once was a thermo valve, but every google search showed some type of solenoid which is no where close to! This sensor is located just below the manifold on the coolant pipe that runs behind the block, and is attached to the thermostat housing. This is only found on 96-98 ex models

Interesting!!

I went to the Majestic web site and they have the same photo (as they should) and yet don't list the part.

I'd recommend that you print out the diagram and take it to your local dealer. On the assumption that it's on 98 EX's, that's only 9 years old and they should have some form of listing.

If you have the factory manual (helm's manual), you could look it up there. You may have to look in the electrical section as I think those "C" call-outs are electrical connectors.

I've no idea where "soul" california is, but there has to be a local "honda/acura" junk yard that can help you out finding another. (but then again, they may want to sell you a complete engine.

In a worst case, call Hasport and ask them if you can send them the photo to see if they know what it is and where you can get one.

Why do you need to replace it?

Wes

the reason why they couldn't find it for your car is because that part is not used on the 96 EX. (you should have the other thermostat housing)

it's used in the OBD2b versions...

I wonder if i can just eliminate it completely? Because one hose that was connected I blocked off when I dropped in a 00 ex motor....it was not needed.

see that peice of info right there would have saved you (and us) a lot of problems.
when looking for engine parts, you have to ask for parts to the engine you have not the chassis.

how do you know the one hose was not needed? (asking not knowing where those hoses go)

Why would it be on my car? I previousily had a 99 ex motor in the car as a replacement for the original engine? Should I swap housings?

you have a 96 EX that had a 99 Y8 which now has a 00 Y8?

depending on what those hoses do you may not need them. I'll try to figure out what they do at lunch today.

It adds vaccum when the coolant reaches a certain temp. Don't know where to? I bypassed it yesterday! I know one location of the hose was from the manifold to the sensor, then another connection was a hose previously blocked off by my friend, who's a certified honda tech. So basically I put the old housing on from a 00 dx and capped off the manifold port.
