Default Prelude Idle Problem...

Hey Guys i'm new here. Got a couple prelude questions...

First of all the car needs to get inspected. theres some issues with the car though:

1. The speedometer doesnt work. I'm being told its the speed sensor but I'm not sure what else it could be

2. The Car has a MAJORLY jumpy idle... I start the car and it idles at a flat 1200 RPMS. I let the car warm up and then put it in Drive and it drives fine. Once I put it BACK into park, however, it starts to jump up and down from 1000 RPMS, float up to 2500RPMS and then fall back down to 1000RPMS. If I rev the car to 6000 RPMS it stops jumping for a few seconds and tehn resumes jumpy idle. HOW DO I FIX THIS? I sue regular gas currently and I did put some prestone additive in it and it did stop for a little while... It came back after the car sat for a few days.

3. The car also needs a new water pump and timing belt. Theres currently 150000 Miles on the car. Is it worth putting 500 bucks into the car to repair the items that arent working right?

I only have 5 posts per day since I'm new so I cant post back much info so i guess check for edits in this post and I'll try to answer questions as they come. If anyone can talk to me on AIM my screenname is SeventhXtrumpetX. My email si Zman1764@gmail.com

Thank you in advanced, Adam.

PS: I am probably going to buy the parts I need from: http://www.hondapartsdeals.com/ Is this a good site? they ahve really cheap parts. I jstu want to make sure I'm not getting ripped off with crappy parts.

2. Too many variables to just pinpoint to one cause. Probably a vacuum leak. There are numerous posts about idle issues, all you have to do is use the Search function.

3. Your car can go 270k+ miles if proper maintance is done on it. It is very worthwhile to keep your Prelude alive. A timing belt and water pump can cost you about $150-200 in parts. Save the money and try this task yourself ... not too hard to change these out.

hondaautomotiveparts.com is the recommended site to use for Parts / Accesories.

Good luck

OK bud..

i got the same problem here..speed sensor doesnt work.. replaced the old one.. still doesnt work.

changed my timing belt. doesnt help

so i got up with 1 of the friends from out of town, he said that there is some sensor in the transmission that needs to be replaced for it to work properly.

now the idle problem.. it just started happening to me about 2 days ago.. i'm trying to figure this out myself.

if i come up with any good news.. i'll let you know
