Default FYI on CV boot replacement.

I just finished up replacing the outer boots on my 97 accord. I purchased 2 new oem Honda boots from the internet for $20.00. Remove the axle and knock off the outer joint with a block of wood and a hammer. Replace the boot with the new one and put it back together.
So save yourself some money and just replace the boots if the joints are ok.

Usually, by the time you notice the boot is bad, the CV joint lost most of the grease and went bad too.

You can replace the boots if...

No grease has been coming out yet.
You see that the boot it going to tear.
No dirt has entered
You don't know when it was torn open.

For extra money, I would just get a brand new one IMO. aka remanufactured. But hey thats great to you man! If you did it yourself, that's a in my book.

I think you need to be a lil more careful with your words.

Brand new and reman'd are completly diffrent. Brand new is a 100% good product (minus factory defects) where as a reman'd could be weak, even from the rebuilders. I see it alot at the shop. reman'd parts, especially calipers are a gamble alot of the time.

I agree with your point, but when it comes to parts, people should seriously think about what they are buying, and what they expect from parts. I.E. Dont expect top notch quality on 3rd line parts, and dont expect 1st line parts to be cheap.
