Default 1996 EX civic oil burn

How much oil should 1996 EX civic burn? What is the accepted level? I found out that my car took approximately 0.7q/ 1000 mil.

Really depends on the state of your motor. How many miles are on your engine?

Motors can start burning oil at 45k, motors can start burning at 210k, really depends how the motor was treated and how well it was taken care of.

All right, but when I suppose to start worry about the oil burn..... for example: if I have to add 1.5 q between oil change (3000 mil) IT is all right or s too much....
THX FOR HELP

Depends on two things:
- Condition of engine (seals)
- How much you hit VTEC

Honda states it's normal for cars utilizing the VTEC system to burn a minimal amount of oil. A lot of other economical 4 cylinder cars say the same thing, such as the Tercel, Metro, and Storm - and I'm sure others.

If it's burning .7qt / 1k miles, it's def. burning more than it should, but that's not horrible.

You're probably better off running it into the ground unless the problem gets worse, unless you have a swap planned. Obviously it's in no condition to boost unless you do a rebuild.

yea mine burns it too. i figured whoever had my engine before me was a little rough on it. I just keep an eye on the oil level and run with it. eventually I might get it fixed. but i can't decide if i want to rebuild an engine for boost or swap.

YEE.. I will check again during this weekend how much it really takes (will go for 500 mil trip)... and have to decide swap or stay with it... (stay = changing timing belt = 600$...)
BTW there is other question since this is my first vtech engine. If I am driving on the second gear (manual trans) and my tachometer shows between 2000 - 4000 the engine does not go smoothly..(choke a little bit).. I have other honda before not vtech and on this level when I accelerate its go pretty good. So guy's do you think that this is something normal for vtech (i know that max is above 5000..)
THX :]
