Default turbo setup/build

been thinking, searching, looking, and researching for couple days now

i stumbled apon the treadstone turbo kit which to me seems like a good deal for $1850
https://redhat3.admarkonline.c...94-97

the kit includes the following:
# Turbonetics T3/T4 turbo, 1 year warranty $800
-probably have a few choices of what trim and A/F, i was thinking about the .48A/F and 60trim
# Turbonetics Evolution wastegate $220 alone for either tial or turbonetics
-most likely will be using .5 bar for 7~8psi
# Treadstone cast manifold $300
-log style
# Treadstone TR8 intercooler $230
Core Size, 7.8" X 22" X 3.5"
# Treadstone 2.5" Polished aluminum pipe kit $300
-i think its a perfect fit, also comes welded with either the greddy or HKS bov flange
# Treadstone stainless downpipe kit no clue on pricing
-i think this pipe only goes down but doesnt connect all the way to the cat
# Treadstone complete oil kit $100
-"T fitting will adapt to almost any motor and still use factory oil pressure sending unit"....think that means using the stock oil pan
# Treadstone silicone and T-bolts
# High flow air filter, upgradable to K&N

only thing is that the kit doesnt come with a BOV, they have both HKS and Greddy for $200 each.
also it doesnt come with fuel options or tuning. i found RC 450cc injectors for 200$ a set, walbro 255lph for 90$, aem fuel rail and regulator for around 150$.
the ecu i was thinking about getting a chipped one from phearable.net for $255. comes with custom base map, fuel map, ignition timing, obd2 to obd1 harness, and custom vtec activiation point.

the total adds up to be $2750. im still looking at ways to cheapen this. what do you guys think?

pretty decent.

to cheapen it up you can...

get DSM 450cc injectors, get them cleaned/flow tested.

fuel rail isnt really needed.

you can get a p06 or p08 ecu and convert it to a p28 and then socket it for crome. thats what im running on my accord. used MrWonderful's tuned bin as my basemap.

intercooler piping, you can just one of those kits on ebay for around $100-150.

FMIC you can try ebay as well, although i have a JRC that i got for a sweet price. too bad JRC isnt around anymore.

you forgetting gauges, BOV, silocone couples and t clamps, all the oil, reccomend head studs...but looking at it not ot bad.....you can get a ebay turbo for alot cheaper or a used one....450 injectors go for 40-60 bucks...good luck on your build

Doubt it would pass.

Why would you try to support somebody on a turbo like that? They fall apart just about the moment they see boost and than have all the "I don't get why my fake turbo blew up on me" threads.

Now getting a used turbo and a rebuild sounds like a better idea

to answer that question I ve had alot of buddies buy no name turbos and they worked fine. and when they blew they had the option of rebuilding using name brand parts

Ok.

What you said is true. I should've said a majority of them lead to problems and by the time they buy a CHRA and what not, it would've been cheaper to buy a name brand turbo

I guess some fall apart, some don't

It is without a doubt.

We're not referring to them though. I'm talking about when CD5 Jeebies mentioned eBay turbos

so where would YOU get a turbo for your f22? to me its seems as if the main components are what you should be concerned with. as in the acutal turbo, the intercooler, wastegate & bov. ebay piping is probably just as good as any ACE Hardware piping some of yall could come up with..

but yes, where should i get my f22 turbo from. i'm looking to spend no more then $1500.

if your putting together a custom build get a volvo t3. boost is 5-7 psi, they are cheap and decent on e-bay.

You may be able to find those parts used for under $1.5k.

It has to be taken into consideration though that you need a chipped ECU with something to tune on like crome, uberdata, Hondata, etc. Time on the dyno is kinda costly.

But, there is always the option of street tuning if you have the know-how

ebay piping is OK by ordinary means, intercooler, bov , compressor , turbine and oil lines ... ecu and fuel rail, injectors however, would be if not mid of the line name brand.

you have to use discrection in where you want to go cheap. I got buddies running ebay intercoolers, tial BOV, and others were I am investing the most money is on things that I wouldn't want comprimised like the wastegate or manifold material etc I'm going cheepy and running crome for tuning it hasent failed me or any of my friends yet and I love the price free!
