When is this usually on? Do they often show replays of it?

Seems kind of stupid to leave the keys in them to me. It's also obvious as hell?

I saw the episode where they set up a bike and one by one people would try to steal it. Pretty funny.

I remember some Canadian police did something similar and had a website for the videos. It was entertaining.

I saw that too, but that was on Cops, not the show he is refering to.

NYC had or may still have a EBP SI bait car. And I know for a fact that about 5 years ago it was used with great success to capture many would be thieves, and no the keys were not in it.

They would just park it in desolate areas in the north Bronx where stolen cars were usually dumped by thieves. I guess just approaching the unlocked car and getting inside of it was enough to have them swarm down on you.

The only problem with bait cars is that the charge is "attempted joyriding" which is a misdemeanor if they don't pull away in the car. I guess that's why they leave the keys in them on that show to make it actual GTA, and then immobilize.

What the cops did around here last year was have a bait 2000 Civic Si car. They left it parked on the side of the road, had GPS tracking on it and etc...

Someone eventually ended up taking it, they tracked down the car parked at a Home's garage. Cops came, arrested 5 people in the house. Also recovered Dave_B's old Type R engine (the Type R was stolen).

And they live in the same town as me

Thats the only thing the local police ever did right around here.

It was found in an EF. The insurance company took possesion of the engine (and probablly resold it for pennys).

Wasn't stolen from me actually, I sold it to a guy in SFL only to have it stolen 2 weeks later. The original title was never sent for that reason (and I couldn't find it)

I'm not really concerned with getting the motor back, as I rightfully didn't own the car, but I'd rather know how/what happened and such.

They cut the owner a check for the car already. Then recovered the engine like a year later. Since the owner already had money for the car, they kept the engine.

I thought I brought it up before? Plus, it wasn't any of my business to go around telling.
