Need help putting a sump on the tank
Hey Guys, I want to install the full-race fuel sump on my EG gas tank. What's the best way of taking the tar off the bottom of the tank? My welder wants me to remove that black tar looking thingy first before he weld my sump on there. he said he don't want to smell that crap ha! ha! Can I remove it by using scraper or maybe die grinder? Please I need your advice if you don't mind. Thank you guys.
some sort of paint stripper should work. i havent tried it though.
when we removed all the tar/seam sealer from our fenderwells etc. we used an angle grinder with a wire wheel. its a huge mess but its somewhat quick.

where the hell can we get those full-race tank sumps?? it's not on full-race website. *****nevermind I found it****
as far as removing the tar, I would go to a local hardware store and they'll have some fluid. I am thinking aircraft paint remover, (it works really good). but we'll see.
thanks

new tank is mush safer to weld too, no fumes to explode... not that we went that route, have met someone who lost a finger welding a tank , after i did mine

i cant answer the undercoat part, it is galvinized i think and painted gray. i got if from first state, i think it is a knock off, it is way cheaper, the difference is, there is no bung, which is good because i opted for the weldon with the -12 inlet.

How are you guys coating under the tank? After you remove all the tar and before you weld the sump on?

Was having the same problem so I took it to some radiator shop and they coated the inside, haven't checked it but hopefully it's fine now
