1991 crx si big brakes
does anyone know if there is a company that makes a big brake kit for a 91 si? i cant find anything other than people swapping DA hubs and brakes on is that a must? if so do u just swap the hubs and then throw on a big brake DA kit?
if you own a 91 crx si, you probably have dx knuckles in the front, which uses a 9.4" front rotor. if you're looking for aftermarket brake-kits, http://fastbrakes.com is reputable.
you can also swap out your knuckles from 90-91 civic ex. you can also swap to 90-93 integra, 94-00 integra or ex knuckles as well. the knuckles listed all use 10.3" front rotors & bigger calipers. you'll need an alignment to correct any camber issues.

another alternative is to keep you DX knuckles & run an itr caliper w/ 10.3" rotors. the itr caliper is a massive brake system, it is one of honda's biggest one-piston calipers. the itr caliper is stamped 17CL15VN and can be found on other vehicles besides the type-r (older accord, legend, vigor, rl, tl, cl, cr-v, odyssey, prelude, etc) & are fairly common in junkyards. upon acquiring the itr 17CL15VN calipers, you'll need to dis-assemble them and seperate the caliper from the bracket (stamped 23T, 25T or 28T). the bracket will need to be sent out to a machine shop & milled 2-3mm or 1/8" (where the bracket mates w/ the knuckle). this set-up runs on 10.3" rotors, which can be sourced from 90-91 civic ex, 90-00 integra, or 99-00 civic si. since you are running a bigger caliper, it'll need more fluid to push the piston. you'll need to upgrade to a bigger master cylinder from a 90-91 civic ex 46100-SH4-A11 or 90-93 integra w/o abs on your crx si. **with the machined brackets, you can use the 17CL15VN itr calipers, legend 2-piston calipers & nsx calipers on your DX knuckles w/ 10.3" rotors

my .02, the 17cl15vn itr caliper on dx knuckles w/ 10.3" rotors is the best-bang-for the-buck. no aftermarket brackets, custom rotors or expensive brake kits. knuckle swaps are great, but will cost money to obtain in junkyards plus an alignment. the itr caliper on dx knuckle set-up's advantage is cheap & easy off-the-shelf maintainance parts. plus w/ the dx knuckle, there is less rotational mass and less unsprung weight on the 10.3" rotor. *if you ever plan on upgrading to bigger knuckles, you can use the itr calipers w/ 11" rotors from a +97 prelude re-drilled to 4X100.

I just got my hub/spindle from a gsr came with caliper, rotors, and brake pads. All costed me $60...
I was lucky because I didn't have to do an aliment.
But I just went to get it checked out anyways and it was still in spec.
