First of all...I would not let price always factor into your decisions on parts. You get what you pay for

Second, Im not a big fan of TEIN...at least in the baseline springs. When you start getting into the $1200 range, TEIN makes some pretty good stuff.

If you want a good quality ride, I would go with Eibach springs w/ Tokico Illuminas. Just my opinion.

If i had to pick between the two that you mentioned, I would choose TEIN.

Megan Racing is just some Ebay name IMO...never would trust any of their parts, especially suspension wise.

I had megan racing springs on kyb agx's one my first car. I had that cars for 3 years. The KYB's started to go when I got rid of it. When it comes to springs on stock shocks and struts I wouldn't go any lower then what you said. But when it's just to lower the car a little bit you could get away with ebay spring if you wanted. They will last longer then the stock struts and shocks and they don't rid bad. Just get ones that don't drop in any more then 2 inches. I have had numerous hondas with different kinds of suspension and when it came to stock struts and shocks with after market springs I couldn't tell a difference. But remember, anything that lowers it less then stock will wear out the suspension a lot faster. IMO I would just invest in some kyb gr2's which are decently cheap and some springs of your choice. I just bought a civic that has that set up and this set up has been on there for 4 years. It rides better then my buddies 97 coupe with Illuminas with TEIN's, which have only been on there for 4 months.

But back to your question. I personally like megan racing.

Ebay springs?....come on bro.

Very noticeable?...maybe. The way the stock suspension is on a civic, its like four-wheel driving. With a 1.9" drop, you will not be slammed, but you will have a much cleaner, sportier look....thats what I happen to like. Being slammed gives you a pretty shitty ride, i dont care what anyone says.

And yes....4 quarts will do it. Its actually a little less, but nonetheless.

I have had mild drop ebay springs on one of my cars before with out changing the struts. It lowered it about 2 inches and they where fine and rode like stock. Springs are important, but the struts and shocks are about 100 times more important. You can have 700 dollar springs on shitty struts and shocks and it will ride like butt. But if you use cheap 50 dollar springs on better struts/shocks it will ride fine. If he is just wanting to lower the car a little ebay's aren't going to hurt him as long as they don't lower the car any more then 2 inches. Most ebay brands when it comes to springs rip off other companies like tien and use the same metal. So depending on how much drop the spring gives ebays would be fine since I doubt he will be auto x'ing or etc. The only thing you want to really look at when it comes to performance and spring is whether or not it is progressive and spring rates. That doesn't come till he wants to go all out. I have plenty of experience with mild suspension stuff like this. I have done a lot of different set ups.

To each his own, but you wont catch me riding on a setup like this.

IMO, you do it right the first time....regardless of "going all out."

To the OP, go ahead and buy a set of Ebay springs/coilovers and you will more than likely be sadly disappointed. Spring rates are everything, and Ebay's do not cover that minor detail.

yes this is true. That is why I said go with gr2's and springs since the set up isn't that expensive and rides very well. But when just lowering a car to lower it a little. you are not going to get that good of a ride quality on stock struts/shocks. You might for awhile but the quality of ride will fade till the suspension is shot. But to each his own.

When lowering "just a little" you wont find a better ride than Eibach w/ Tokico Illuminas

No camber kit required, not slammed, no bouncing everywhere. Just a nice sporty drop
