Default itr jdm tranny question...

ok... i bought my integra with a jdm itr engine and tranny. both are stamped with proofmarks from hmotors. the tranny is supposed to have lsd but it does not. The opposing wheel does not turn when on the racks. so heres my dillema. is this just a regular gsr s80 transmission or a itr without the lsd? Im idling at 4400rpm @ 80mph.

thanks

its not a gsr transmission if its at 4400 rpm at 80 mph, if it was a gsr tranny, itd be at 4000 at 80.

Youve got either a b16 tranny or a itr without an lsd...

I dunno whats up with that, thats just weird.

Pull the axle out and see if there is a bar going across the opening in the tranny. if there is, then it doesn't have the lsd.

Look at the code on the tranny if its ITR it should be :

N3E = ITR Spec R 98-01
J4D = ITR 96-97 JDM/USDM/CDM

There is the ones in black that usually is somewhat under the vtec cylanoid! But the best way to find out if that tranny has LSD or not, is to take out the pass side axle! look inside to see if there is a shaft! If you dont see a shaft then its LSD

The car has to be gear for that to work. Search google for "hondahookup manuals". Download the 97 ITR supplement and run through the LSD check procedure. You can also pull an axle and look for the straight through shot in the differential.

the best way is to check,

Even if it is a JDM ITR tranny someone could have taken out th lsd and put a normal one in there.

It must be in gear when you rotate the tires. Put the car in first gear and rotate the tires again

BTW: the stock ITR LSD will superficially behave like an open differential when you rotate a wheel with the car in gear and in the air. You need to perform a torque measurement as outlined in the Helm to verify the operation/presence of the LSD.
